Please read this disclosure carefully before using Inertia.
Inertia (“Inertia,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a financial technology, budgeting, and financial wellness platform designed to help users better understand their spending, financial behaviors, patterns, budgets, and financial goals.
By accessing or using Inertia, you acknowledge and agree to the disclosures below.
1. Inertia is a financial wellness tool
Inertia provides technology designed to help users organize and better understand their financial information.
Features may include transaction categorization, budgeting tools, spending analysis, financial patterns, goal tracking, projections, comparisons, behavioral insights, educational information, and AI-generated responses.
Inertia's tools are intended to provide users with information that may help them better understand their financial lives. They are not a substitute for individualized professional advice.
2. Inertia does not provide investment advice
Inertia is not an investment adviser, broker-dealer, bank, accounting firm, law firm, or tax advisory firm.
Inertia does not provide individualized investment, securities, tax, accounting, or legal advice through the platform.
Nothing presented through Inertia should be interpreted as a recommendation to buy, sell, hold, or otherwise transact in any security, investment product, or financial instrument.
Information provided through Inertia is intended for educational, informational, budgeting, and financial wellness purposes.
Users should consult an appropriately qualified financial advisor, investment professional, accountant, tax professional, attorney, or other professional before making decisions requiring individualized professional advice.
3. Financial professionals
In certain circumstances, Inertia may encourage or provide users with an opportunity to speak with a human financial professional.
Inertia may provide links, referrals, introductions, or other methods of connecting users with financial advisors or other professionals for questions that require individualized professional judgment.
Any advice subsequently provided by a financial professional is separate from the information provided through Inertia.
A user's relationship with any financial professional may be subject to separate agreements, disclosures, fees, regulatory obligations, and terms.
4. Inertia's budgeting methodology
Inertia uses a proprietary financial wellness and budgeting methodology developed using financial-planning concepts and behavioral-finance principles.
The methodology incorporates concepts including zero-based budgeting and “pay yourself first,” as well as other assumptions, targets, categorizations, and financial wellness principles developed for the platform.
This methodology represents one approach to budgeting and financial wellness.
It is not appropriate for every person's financial circumstances, preferences, needs, risk tolerance, goals, or lifestyle.
Users may disagree with Inertia's classifications, targets, assumptions, or suggestions.
Where available, users can modify or override Inertia's recommendations, categories, assumptions, goals, and other settings.
Users remain responsible for determining whether any information presented through Inertia is appropriate for their individual circumstances.
5. AI disclosure
Inertia may provide features powered by artificial intelligence (“AI”).
The AI may analyze information available within Inertia, including financial information, transactions, spending patterns, budgets, goals, user preferences, and information voluntarily provided by the user.
AI-generated responses are provided for educational, informational, budgeting, and financial wellness purposes.
AI can make mistakes.
AI-generated information may be inaccurate, incomplete, misunderstood, outdated, incorrectly categorized, or otherwise inappropriate for a user's individual circumstances.
Users should not assume that an AI-generated response is accurate simply because it is presented confidently or appears personalized.
Inertia's AI is not a human financial advisor and cannot fully understand every aspect of a user's financial, personal, legal, tax, investment, or other circumstances.
Users should verify important information and consult an appropriate human professional before making significant financial decisions.
When a user's question requires individualized professional judgment, Inertia may encourage the user to consult a financial advisor or other qualified professional.
6. No guarantee of accuracy or results
Inertia may provide predictions, projections, classifications, calculations, benchmarks, spending analyses, financial patterns, AI responses, or other insights.
These outputs may rely on information obtained from users, connected financial accounts, third-party providers, algorithms, AI systems, assumptions, and historical information.
Such information may contain errors, delays, missing transactions, incorrect categorizations, or other inaccuracies.
Inertia does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or suitability of any prediction, projection, categorization, calculation, insight, AI-generated response, or other output.
Past financial behavior does not guarantee future behavior or results.
Use of Inertia does not guarantee that a user will save money, reduce spending, eliminate debt, improve credit, achieve an investment return, reach a financial goal, or otherwise improve their financial condition.
7. User responsibility
Users remain responsible for their own financial decisions.
Inertia does not make financial decisions or execute financial decisions on behalf of users solely because the platform provides an insight, classification, projection, notification, or AI-generated response.
Users should review information presented through Inertia and determine whether it is accurate and appropriate before relying upon it.
For decisions involving investments, taxes, legal matters, accounting, insurance, retirement planning, debt, estate planning, or other significant financial matters, users should consult an appropriately qualified professional.
8. No advisory relationship
Inertia's methodology may have been developed with input from financial professionals, including licensed financial advisors.
The involvement of a financial professional in developing Inertia's methodology does not create an investment advisory, financial planning, fiduciary, or other professional-client relationship between that professional and an Inertia user.
Similarly, use of Inertia does not, by itself, create an advisory relationship between Inertia and the user.
Any professional relationship between a user and a financial advisor or other professional must be established separately.
9. Use of financial data
Inertia may collect and store financial and other information necessary to operate the platform and provide its features to users.
Inertia intends to use this information to operate, maintain, personalize, secure, and improve the application and to help users better understand their financial information, behaviors, patterns, and goals.
Inertia does not intend to sell users' personal or financial information for monetary consideration.
Additional information regarding how Inertia collects, uses, stores, protects, retains, and shares information is provided in the Inertia Privacy Policy.
10. Anonymous and aggregated insights
Inertia may use aggregated or de-identified information to create statistics, benchmarks, trends, research, or comparisons.
For example, Inertia may provide a user with an insight such as:
“You spend more on dining than approximately 60% of comparable Inertia users.”
Inertia may also use aggregated information to understand general financial behaviors, improve its products, develop new features, and provide users with relevant benchmarks or educational insights.
Inertia intends for these statistics and comparisons to use aggregated or de-identified information rather than identifying another individual user.
Users should not interpret peer comparisons or benchmarks as financial advice or as a recommendation to change their financial behavior.
11. Third-party financial data
Inertia may rely on third-party providers, including Plaid, to facilitate connections between users and their financial institutions.
Information received from connected accounts may be incomplete, delayed, incorrectly categorized, or otherwise inaccurate.
Inertia cannot guarantee the accuracy or availability of information supplied by third parties.
Users should verify important financial information directly with their financial institution when necessary.
12. Data sharing with financial professionals
Inertia may offer functionality that allows a user to connect with or share certain information with a financial advisor or other financial professional.
Where required or appropriate, users will be provided with information regarding what data may be shared and may be asked to authorize such sharing.
Connecting with a financial professional through Inertia does not change the informational nature of Inertia's automated tools.
Any individualized advice provided by a financial professional is provided by that professional and is subject to the terms of the user's separate relationship with that professional.
