We may collect information that you provide when creating or using an Inertia account, including:

• Email address
• Account and profile information
• Financial goals
• Budgeting preferences
• Spending preferences and classifications
• Information manually entered into Inertia
• Communications with Inertia
• Information or questions submitted through Inertia's AI-powered features
• Other information you voluntarily provide

Financial information obtained through Plaid

Inertia uses Plaid, a third-party financial technology provider, to facilitate connections between Inertia and users' financial institutions.

Depending on the accounts a user chooses to connect and the services enabled, Inertia may receive financial information through Plaid, including:

• Financial institution and account information
• Account type
• Account balances
• Transaction history
• Transaction amounts and dates
• Merchant information
• Transaction descriptions
• Other financial information made available through the user's connected accounts

Inertia does not intend to request or store users' online banking passwords or credentials. Financial account connections and authentication are facilitated through Plaid and participating financial institutions.

Plaid's collection and use of information is also subject to Plaid's own privacy practices.

2. Our website and waitlist

You can browse our website without creating an account. The website lets you join the Inertia waitlist, take our money personality quiz, and tell us what feels most important to you right now. When you do, we collect the information you enter, which may include:

• First and last name
• Email address
• How you heard about Inertia
• Your money personality quiz result
• The priorities you select
• Campaign parameters (such as UTM codes) in the link that brought you to the website

We use this information to add you to the waitlist, email you your quiz results, send you occasional emails about Inertia and money tips, understand who is interested in Inertia, and improve the website.

We use beehiiv, an email newsletter service, to store waitlist sign-ups and send these emails on our behalf. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to remove your information at any time by contacting hello@tryinertia.co.

After you sign up, the website may set a cookie in your browser for up to 30 days so that, if you return, the priorities you select can be saved to your sign-up without asking for your details again. The cookie holds only a signed reference to your sign-up, not your name or email address.

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the website, such as which pages are viewed and whether a visit leads to a sign-up. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your browser, device, approximate location, and the pages you visit. We do not send your name or email address to Google Analytics. You can read how Google uses this information and opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

The remaining sections of this Privacy Policy apply to information collected through the website as well as through the Inertia app.

3. Budgeting and behavioral information

Inertia may generate or store additional information based on how users interact with the platform, including:

• Budget categories
• Spending classifications
• User-created or system-generated transaction tags
• Financial goals
• Savings goals
• Spending patterns
• Budgeting patterns
• Financial trends
• User preferences
• Predictions, projections, or other insights generated by Inertia
• User modifications or overrides to Inertia's classifications or suggestions

We use this information to provide and improve Inertia's financial wellness, budgeting, behavioral finance, and related functionality.

4. AI-powered features

Inertia may provide artificial intelligence-powered tools that allow users to ask questions about their financial information, spending patterns, budgets, goals, or other information available through the platform.

Information submitted to these features may be processed by Inertia and by third-party artificial intelligence or technology providers that help us operate these features.

Inertia does not sell users' personal or financial information for monetary consideration.

• Email delivery and newsletter providers (such as beehiiv)
• AI and machine-learning providers
• Analytics providers
• Authentication and security providers
• Customer-support providers
• Other technology vendors necessary to operate Inertia

We expect service providers to process information only for appropriate business purposes and subject to applicable contractual and legal requirements.

We may also disclose information when required by law, legal process, court order, governmental request, or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, security, or property of Inertia, our users, or others.

If Inertia is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar corporate transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

7. Financial advisors

Inertia may be offered to users through financial advisors, financial planning firms, or other financial professionals.

Receiving access to Inertia through a financial advisor does not automatically mean that the advisor has access to all information a user provides to Inertia.

If Inertia offers functionality that allows information to be shared with a user's financial advisor, we intend to provide appropriate disclosures and/or consent mechanisms describing what information will be shared and with whom.

Users may be given the ability to authorize or revoke certain advisor data-sharing permissions, subject to applicable product functionality and legal requirements.

8. Analytics and tracking technologies

We may use cookies, software development kits, pixels, analytics technologies, device information, and similar technologies to understand how users interact with Inertia, maintain platform functionality, improve performance, prevent fraud, and improve the user experience.

Our practices may vary between our website and mobile application.

Where required by applicable law, users may be provided with choices regarding certain tracking technologies.

9. Data security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal and financial information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

However, no electronic system, database, internet transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials and should notify Inertia if they believe their account has been compromised.

10. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Inertia's services, maintain users' accounts, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, and fulfill legitimate business purposes.

Different categories of information may be retained for different periods.

When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete, de-identify, or anonymize it, subject to applicable legal, regulatory, security, and technical requirements.

11. Account and data deletion

Users may request deletion of their Inertia account and certain personal information by emailing us at hello@tryinertia.co.

We will process eligible deletion requests in accordance with applicable law.

Certain information may be retained after an account is deleted when necessary to comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, maintain security, enforce agreements, or for other legally permitted purposes.

Disconnecting a financial account from Inertia may prevent Inertia from receiving new information from that account but may not automatically delete information previously received.

12. Your privacy rights

Depending on where a user resides and applicable law, users may have rights concerning their personal information, which may include rights to:

• Request access to personal information
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of certain information
• Obtain information regarding how personal information is collected or disclosed
• Obtain a copy of certain personal information
• Opt out of certain uses or disclosures where applicable

Inertia is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use Inertia, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will take appropriate steps to delete the information.

Inertia relies on third-party services, including Plaid and other technology providers.

Those third parties may maintain their own privacy policies and terms governing their collection, processing, and use of information.

Inertia is not responsible for the independent privacy practices of third parties except as required by applicable law.

15. De-identified and aggregated information

We may create aggregated or de-identified information from information collected through Inertia for purposes such as understanding user behavior, improving our products, conducting analytics, developing new functionality, and measuring platform performance.

Where required by law, we will maintain such information in de-identified form and will not attempt to re-identify it except as legally permitted.

16. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes to Inertia, our data practices, technology, or applicable legal requirements.

When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date above. Where required by law or appropriate based on the nature of the changes, we may provide additional notice or request consent.

Continued use of Inertia following an updated Privacy Policy will be governed by applicable law and our then-current terms.
